Guest: Robin Coy Comments: I stumbled across your site while doing ancestor research. Very informative! My grandmother and her siblings were born in and around Lemont. There were 8 of them, born ca.. 1909 thru 1924. They were Polish, I'm not sure how many of the boys worked in the mines, or when they left the area. Their last name was Suda. Someday I hope to make a trip up there and do some more snooping, as this branch of my family tree is still a mystery. Your photos are great! If I come across any photos of the Lemont area in our old albums, I will e-mail them to you. Thanks again for the insightful look into my family's past! Guest: Changa Comments: Nice site. Guest: earl dickinson Comments: great site. thanks for being there. Guest: Jeff Kelley Comments: A word about the 'Dairy Bar'. The Dairy Bar was the top house on Second Street and it was owned by the Winnaught family. (Not positive about the spelling but pronunced "Win Not" They use the bottom floor of their house and lived upstairs. It had a medium size dancing area, a small snack shop, juke box and my favorites pin ball machines. We lived in the top house on First Street and our yards backed up to eachother. Our parents did not permit us to hang at the Dairy Bar because they felt it was not a very moral place to be. I must admit it was rather exciting place from time-to-time for a mid-teenager. Guest: Jeff Kelley Comments: One of the unknown boys in your sled riding photo is Phil Zoretic. He is the larger boy in the back row, left hand side. I get my info from my brother Jim who is in the photograph. Guest: Mary Ellen Briscar Isom (Cookie) Comments: Hi Richard and family - old and new. Richard, the updates are great. Just wanted to wish all a blessed and prosperous New Year. Looking forward to hearing about new found family members.

Guest: Gene Vitikacs Comments: I came across this site while searching on the family name Vitikacs and noticed this obit: John VITIKACS died in 1937. His obit was contributed to the Fayette County USGenWeb Project.(9) JOHN VITIKACS John Vitikacs, Sr., aged 51 years and eight months, passed away in St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh, at 3:43 Tuesday afternoon, October 26, 1937, following an extended illness. He resided in House 48, Briar Hill, Surviving are the widow, Anna, and the following children; Mrs. Mary Baluch, Newark, N.J.; Mrs. Veronica Stash, Struthers, O.; Mrs. Margaret Kosarek, New York City; John Jr. at home; Agnes, in New York, and Frederick, at home. Four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services are incomplete Submitter note: (Maiden name SEFCIK. Family plot LaFayette) I would like to make a few corrections concerning this. This is my grandfathers obituary. The name of one of the children -- Frederick, was my father. His name was not Frederick but Francis F. Vitikacs. The F standing for Ferdinand. He was called Freddy/Fritz by most of his friends. Also, Sefick was my grandmothers maden name as you have indicated and the family plot is not LaFayette Memorial Park. My grand parents are buried in St. Hedwigs Cemetary in Brier Hill, Pennsyavania. My parents and other family members are buried in Lafayette Memorial as well as other cemetary's.

I'd love to hear from some of my other relatives. I'd love to learn more about the Briskars! Guest: Kasi Butler Comments: Hi ALL! Guest: Charles L. R. Capito Comments: First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to ensure Lemont Furnace remains in the hearts of those who grew-up there. I was raised in Lemont Furnace and my family lived there for many years. My mother was Carolyn Richardson Capito and my grand parents were Charles and Gladys Richardson. I remember the stories they would tell me during the days when the mines were active. I currently live in Springfield, VA and miss the peace and quiet of Lemont and being able to visit with neighbors and just enjoying life. A large majority of my family and friends have either passed on or have moved away. I still visit Lemont at least once a year just hoping to regain past memories. If anyone remembers the Richardson or Capito family, feel free to e-mail at clrc@cox.net. God Bless and thanks for a wonderful site. Charles L. R. Capito

Guest: Kenneth Patchan Comments: I Kenneth Patchan lived in Lemont from 1938 to 1945 and my father Matthew D. Patchan ran the general store which you have wrote about under Lemont Commerce. I personally worked in the store for my father and delivered groceries to different customers in the patch. I think your website is very interesting and commend you for the creation. Thank you, Kenneth Patchan Guest: Rudy J Briskar Comments: Nice work! Got to see several pics of my known family, Sophie and Rudy. Didn't see any of Steve though, he was my dad, Rudy's brother. Guest: Arth Vandelay Comments: Very nice website. Keep up the good work I will visit again. Guest: Steven V. Gallagher Comments: Just me checking out whats going on this days.As always great job keeping the site up. Thanks an God Bless Everyone!
Guest: Karen Beck Comments: My dad's family lived in Lemont Furnace. I am trying to find out exactly where. I remember there was a main road cut down so the houses were up high. They lived outside of the town proper and there was a railroad in the far backyard and the "big inch" ran way out back. It exploded about 1951 and we have a newspaper clipping about the fire. If anyone has any information about Alex Pyskach, wife Sophia, sons John & Charles, daughters Olga & Maria, please email me. Thanks.
