Allen Joseph Okorn, 67, passed away Dec. 3,
2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Al leaves behind his children, Mary, Nathan (Mary), Rachel Fortier
(David) and Ryan. He was the proud grandpa
("Papa Al") of Elias,
Abigail, Tristan, David, Victor and Kate. He will be sorely missed
by siblings Linda Hogan (Steve), Jim (Kathy), Ed (Diane), Joe
(Rhonda) and Carolyn Young (Tallie).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances Okorn.
Al was a beloved uncle to many.
Al spent six years in the Navy on the nuclear sub Sand Lance. After
retiring from more than 30 years of service at the Perry Nuclear
Power Plant, he enjoyed spending time with his family, music,
fishing, and working on his award-winning MG Midget. A unique soul,
Al was the quintessential prankster and always had an appropriate
joke for the occasion.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 10 at Zele
Funeral Home, 452 E 152 St., Cleveland.

Memories and Condolences
December 9, 2016
I worked with Al at Perry for many years. He was very
intelligent, dedicated and a hard worker. My thoughts and
prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

I worked with al during the start up of the Perry Plant. He was
a very good person to work with. His dry sense of humor was
always something that would catch you off guard.
He was always a concerned supervisor taking care of his
employees. He will be missed
I will keep his family in my prayers during this time go
morning.
Ps will always remember spagetti nights on shift.

I spoke with Al at Norbie's birthday party last summer. You
never know when it may be the last time you see someone.
Wish I could come to the service, but it is far. Hope to see
some of the family next summer. God bless and keep you all
and we pray that Al rest in peace and that the perpetual
light shine upon him. Love, Alyce and Vince Dolphin

Oh MG Al....you will missed. We so enjoyed your quirky
personality. Many fond memories while Mike built your engine for
your MG. I will get good use out of the meatloaf pan you gave
us. We'll miss your visits bringing "roller dogs" from Circle K.
Godspeed our friend....Mike & Cindy Schiberl

I had the great pleasure to work with Al at the Perry Plant
prior to start up and well into years of commercial operation.
He was a very hard worker and had a great technical mind. He
also had a great sense of humor and would always make time for a
chat or to cheer you up or help you out.
In later years I had the great fortune of having Al as a
neighbor. In our retirement we would often chat about topics of
the day out in the drive-way. He loved working on his car and in
the yard.
He was a great neighbor and friend. He will be sorely missed.
My wife, Deb and I will keep him and his family in our prayers.

Al was my best friend. We grew up in the same neighborhood and
went to grade school and high school together. Al was simply a
good man with a sense of humor that was unique. He took me on a
tour of the nuclear submarine he worked on and that was a real
experience seeing the nuclear reactor he operated. I enjoyed my
friendship with him and I will miss him tremendously.

Al made us all laugh so much with his
unique sense of humor. Here he is playing balinca at the
Fairport Slovenian Club, where the Okorn brothers played in
a league. |
