William Newell Stoots

 

William Newell Stoots, 77, of Connellsville Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 27, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born January 23, 1946, the son of the late Joseph and Vera (Brown) Stoots.

He graduated from Connellsville High School in the Class of 1965 and then proceeded onto drafting school. For 30 years, Bill was employed as the manager of the Charleroi Federal Savings Bank until his retirement.

Bill was a member of the Connellsville Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as the church council President. In addition to serving as President of his church council, he served as President of the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce, the Connellsville Jaycees, and the Connellsville United Way.

He also served on the Connellsville School Board for multiple terms, the Connellsville Library Board of Directors, and the Wesley Health Center Board of Directors.

He was initiated as a JCI State Senator and he was a member of the Kiwanis, the Masons, the Polish Club, and he was a life member of the Elks.
He founded and owned the Hard Bodies Gym and Fitness Center in Connellsville.

He loved golf, vacationing at the beach with family and friends, playing guitar, riding his motorcycle, driving his corvette, and visiting his beloved children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sally (Doppelheuer) Stoots; son, William Stoots (Amy); daughter, Heather Stoots-Nazario (Edwin; grandchildren, Zoe Nazario, Alex Nazario, and Markus Nazario, Logan Stoots and Hunter Stoots; sister, Mary Swink and brother-in-law, Wade Swink; brother-in-law, Dana and (Andrea) Doppelheuer.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Stoots.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville,  PA 15425 on Wednesday 2pm - 4pm – 6pm – 8pm, with the  Connellsville Elks Lodge #503 holding a Memorial Ritual at 7pm and the King Solomon Masonic Lodge #346 holding a Memorial Ritual at 7:30pm. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 10am with Pastor Philip Ramstad officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church - 126 E Fairview Ave, Connellsville, PA 15425.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Medi Home Hospice and their nurses, Diane, Carol and Sandy and to the caretakers, Nicole and Christy for their excellent care and compassion for Bill.
