Guest: Chris Valentovich CommentsRichard, As always I enjoy seeing updates on the site. I was looking in "More Lemont" and noticed you listed "Jack" Gates' publication "In Other Years". Jack passed away in late summer of this year. Furtunately, being the historian and writer-not to mention photographer that he was, Jack left his knowledge of the local community as his legacy for all who are interested in the history of Fayette County. I found another book on the history of Fayette County in May. It details a scandalous affair in the late 1930's of which the reverberations are still felt today. E-mail to follow. Guest: Mary Katharine Okorn CommentsHello, family! Love the site - more pictures and writings, please. Still loving it out here in LA - it really is beautiful here everyday. Today is actually a really special occasion because I'm watching it drizzle coolly for only the second time in a year. What a treat the smell is! As for me, I'm writing spec scripts and looking for that coveted entry-level entertainment industry position - doing some regular LA things. Despite what people have said, there are a plethora of jobs to be had - finding the right fit is the challenge. Curt and his band would absolutely be in their element out here - come visit me anytime, Curtis! It's wonderful to be able to visit this site and feel a little closer to those people whom I consider home. Take care everyone and submit photos and writings! Love, Mary Guest: Don "Donnie Joe" Briscar CommentsJust dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.....BUT, I did meet singer, Brenda Lee last week....She really is 4 foot 9... Thomas CommentsThis is a great web page and I want to complement you for designing and maintaining it. My connection is through my late wife, who was a Basinky. Her grandparents, were the Dorseys (Ursini) who lived on Second Street from the early 1940's until the last of them (Pauline and Edward Basinsky) passed away around 1996. I have photos of Lemont Furnace in the 1940's and will forward some later. Guest: CommentsThis is a wonderful Web Page and I want to add my congradulations to the list. My connection is through my late wife's family, the Dorseys and the Basinsky's, all of whom are now deceased but lived on Second Street from the early 1940's through around 1996. Bob Mullar Hi! Ambrose. I saw your web site. I saw some of the old pictures. Your Friend, Bob Mullar N. Ridgeville,Ohio
Does anyone remember Dean Pierce "the nicest boy in Lemont" playing Evil Kenivel on his motorcycle? By the way he was stopped by the State Police a few times and he never got license plates for the bike. Trouble seemed to follow Dean and Ambrose everywhere they went. Last they knew, the motorcycle was in Zink's Garage on Main Street in Uniontown. Joseph R. Briscar
Excellent web site. Brings to mind things forgotten. Dean Pierce was, without a doubt, the nicest boy in Lemont. Joe Stronko Chris R. Valentovich Hello to all of the Briscar Family, I just saw this web page for the first time...it's really great! The pictures of the Family Reunion and all are really enjoyable. Great job Dick! Let's keep in touch, Chris Aunt Ronnee Howdy Everyone, Visiting my son David and his wife Marschia in Delaware. I was suprised to see how many of our friends from Lemont have reached you. Frank "Salty" Phillips is here with us and I know that he can spin a few yarns about life in Lemont. He was born in beautiful downtown Lemont at Hawks Crossing across the road from Prahs. That was obviously the wrong side of the tracks. Andy Volcheck knows all about him and the guy out there looking for the good dirt should talk to "Salty" in August. Love, Aunt Ronnie Ed. Guman My name is Ed. Guman and formerly lived in Lemont. I was born there and still have family living there. I want to congratulate you for a job well done. I was informed of this website by your uncle Ambrose. I knew your father Vince and your uncle Joe very well. Once again, congratulations on a very very wonderful website. Best wishes and God's blessings. Martha Novacheck Flight Dear Dick, A wonderful trip down memory lane. Your web pages are very beautifully done. So many good memories came to me through reading your pages. Things I've told my children about my younger days with the Briscar and Chuska family. It really touched my heart. Hope someday to do the same with our family, but as a novice, may be too much for me to conquer. Thanks for some wonderful memories! Kathy Briscar Okorn Omigawd, Richard!....This place is so cool! ...We really MUST get mama a computer so that she can reminisce and blubber (as she does so very well!) over all of the wonderful memories you've bound into these pages! You've evoked a plethora of sights, sounds and feelings that I haven't experienced in far too many years!....Like walking barefoot down the hills in Lemont on a sultry summer day, feeling the tar bubbling squishy between my toes, bending down and picking up a gob of the gooey black stuff and shoving it in my mouth!!!!!! Sick? YES!!!!... But a taste and smell that inexplicably come back to me when I remember Lemont........*S* Kudos, Big Bro! Love, The Middle One.... Kathy Don Briscar Despite my continuing efforts to dissuade family members from calling me "Donny Joe", I have given up any hope of ever having that name banished from the English language...I am convinced that somewhere in the Briscar genetic code , it locked into someone's brain and a family tradition was begun...BUT, my real challenge to those of you who still have a firm grasp on the name, "Donny Joe", let's see it spelled in Slovak !!... DEAN I. PIERCE I ENJOYED THE LEMONT REUNION LAST AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEARS. AMBROSE BRISCAR AND JOHN PALIC ARE VISITING ME AS I WRITE THIS AS WE ARE VISIT ROBERT V. PECCON. I FEEL THAT I WAS THE NICEST BOY IN LEMONT. Richard V. Briscar Dear Stuart, Do you think your father would lie about something like that? The REAL Stuart Briscar Cool site dude. I know it had to take awhile... Maybe you can give me some tips or something..... P.S. Did you really call my dad Donny Joe???? Ed was talking just the other day about fishing with your grandfather at the Cool Spring Resevoir. He also mentioned fishing with him in Connellsville.
